Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
I am passionate about and committed to providing opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to get involved in academic research. This involves addressing and breaking down barriers preventing students from engaging in research.
Financial Concerns
Appropriately paying students for their work; covering conference travel upfront; providing free outreach opportunities
Citizenship
Sharing funding opportunities for citizens and non-citizens and equally supporting both parties
Limited Network
Advertising opportunities beyond immediate circle of friends / colleagues to reach those with a limited network
Disability
Adapting work environment or style to accommodate all
Lack of Confidence
Listing 'no previous experience necessary' when true in job descriptions for undergraduate positions
GPA Requirements
A person is not only a GPA or standardized test score and should be assessed holistically
McKay Conference Grant Program
Fully funded opportunity for undergraduates with little to no prior research experience to attend a conference to network and learn about the field
